Travelling around Road 1 in Iceland, the view was magnificent. This year I’d hit lucky, most roads were open and nothing disturbed my travel plans. Hiking, however, seemed more of a difficult task as many places were closed off from the public. This was in order to preserve the environment for the future, and maintain the land in its most natural state. A pang of sadness hit me as I saw many people read the sign, detailing why the track was closed, and walk on past it. This small river pictured here, caught my eye and forced me to stop by the road. No traffic, no people, just the company of nature.
