If you’re a maker, artisan, or creative, you know it’s important to have images that showcase who you are and the work you do. Whether you work with ceramics, jewellery, textiles or run an independent shop, the right photos can help capture your personality and what makes your work unique.
Photographing thousands of people in a whole range of situations has allowed me to develop a patient and friendly approach to shoots. My aim is always to make sure you feel as comfortable and at ease as possible in front of the camera whilst you do the thing you love.
How you can use your creative brand photos
We’ll work together to capture a variety of images during the shoot, so you have a range of photographs to market your business. You’ll get a mixture of headshots and relaxed portraits, studio or workshop images capturing your process, close-ups of your materials and tools, works-in-progress, and finished pieces.
As part of the consultation, we can talk through what kind of images you need; whether that’s for social media, website banners, artist bios, marketing materials, or to work alongside features in magazines and other publications.
Hey, it’s nice to meet you
I’m Oi Mei (pronounced like oy-may), the person behind AMYJROBINSON. My approach to photography is connected to my curiosity about people, places, and the stories within them. I first picked up a camera in my teens, but didn’t truly get the bug until I started to travel. Since then, I have met so many amazing people from all over the world, learning about their crafts, small businesses, passions, and everyday lives.
After a decade of developing my approach, not just to photography, but life, I have created a quiet but genuine documentary style with all the things I do, be it writing, photography, film production, or workshops. Gaining an appreciation for everyday moments and quiet things that are easily overlooked has helped me to create a better outlook on life. I still try to travel as often as I can in my self-converted van, occasionally accompanied by my dog, Peaches.
Most recently, I travelled the Wild Atlantic Way in Ireland, and I’ve just returned from my first LARP experience being a Hobbit at the Brandywine Festival.
What to expect from your brand photography session
We’ll have a consultation to explore how you want to use your photos, what your aims are and what stories you want to tell. I’ll help you throughout the planning stage using visual moodboards and written clarification to best prepare for your shoot. I can also offer guidance on the clothing and poses that might work best. We’ll then decide on dates and locations, and I can keep a deadline in mind for the delivery of your final images.
As a neurodivergent creative myself, I understand there may be specific accommodations or adjustments that help you feel at ease. Please make me aware of anything I may need to take into account when working with you or your team.
I have experience working with people from various backgrounds, and I always aim to make sure your experience with me is an empowering one, and you feel able to communicate freely with me throughout the process.

What should I wear or bring to the shoot?
The most important thing is to wear clothes that you feel comfortable in. It’s worth considering the look you want to achieve and the colour palettes that will work best for your brand. You can have as many outfit changes as you want within your timeslot, here are my top tips to get the most from your shoot: have a hair up and hair down option, slightly change your makeup, and think about swapping piercings, jewellery, or glasses.
Are headshots included?
I’ll take a range of photographs, including headshots, relaxed portraits, images of you working and images of your tools and materials.
Can you photograph my products as well?
I can definitely take informal photos of your products as part of the brand photoshoot. However, if you want your full product catalogue photographed, for example, this is a separate service that I can also offer. Feel free to ask as part of your enquiry if you’d like both services.
Can you travel outside of Newcastle and the North East?
I love travelling for projects. Just tell me your ideal location for the shoot, and I can give you a cost for travel. Local shoots don’t incur a travel fee, and costs are calculated at 55p per mile (after the first 50 miles).
How quickly will I get my images?
Normally, I try to deliver your full image gallery between 2 to 4 weeks after the shoot; however I will update you on current turnaround times.
